Oz. is here
For some time now, we have been telling you that Oz. our
object-oriented, graphical-user, voice-activated, totally rewritten CMMS
was coming. We had been working diligently to get this product out the
door since the projected release date (end of year 97) had come and
gone. But missing the release date was not as important to us as making
sure that the product, when finally released, was as bug free as
possible.
We are happy to announce, at this time, that Oz. of Prevention has been
officially released. Early feedback is extremely positive. We have
received requests from a good number of companies, both current
customers and new leads, for the Oz. trial and users have already put it
through its paces.
In developing Oz. we have taken great pains to make sure that none of
the functionality of OOPS! was lost. Of course, Oz. has lots of new
features, like true multitasking; customizable "standard" reports; tax
calculations; unlimited parts, labor and tools on work orders; more
advanced purchasing and requisition; more advanced search capabilities;
more custom fields; enhanced graphics capabiliites and much more.
The development team chose DB2 as the Oz. database because of its
stability, reliability and performance and Oz. was designed specifically
to utilize OS/2's superior technology and built-in speech and
multitasking.
Oz. is being sold both as a turnkey system or "software only" system.
And, we haven't forgotten you, our loyal users. We have already
developed a module to import your OOPS! data. You would not have to
rebuild your data when you go with Oz. Although we are selling this
software to new customers for $6500, any OOPS! user who purchases Oz.
can deduct the price they paid for OOPS!
There is another advantage to Oz. There is only one version. If you are a
network user, we do not charge for additional users.* As you can see,
we are trying to make moving on to new technology as painless as
possible.
OOPS! will still be fully supported.
If, on the other hand, you decide, OOPS! still fills your needs, rest
assured, we will continue to support you. We have, however, decided not
to sell additional licences for OOPS! and have also decided not to sell
the network version to any customer who does not currently have the
network version. We would like to explain why we were forced to make
this decision. MDBS, who receives a royalty for every new OOPS! and new
network system sold, has raised their price by 1550%. That's right. In
order to continue to sell these products, it would be necessary for us
to raise our prices by a like amount. We refuse to do that. Just because
MDBS has chosen to run this greedy course does not mean that we will
follow in their footsteps.
Congratulations Aviar!
Aviar is celebrating its 15th anniversary and that's good news for
anyone who was thinking about getting PSOOPS! and/or DrOOPS! because
from now until the end of the year you can get 50% off the purchase
price of either PSOOPS! or Dr.OOPS! That's a savings of $425.00 for
PSOOPS! and $625.00 for Dr.OOPS!. And if you order both, you can get an
even bigger steal - both for only $1000.00 - that's a savings of
$1050.00.
Note from Aviar's President
When asked how he felt about Aviar's successfully staying in business
for 15 years, John Urbaniak, Aviar's President said "We owe our success
to our customers; we really appreciate their confidence in us and we
promise to continue to provide the very best CMMS software and technical
support in the years ahead. We'd like to thank them all very much!

CMMS Choice -
Thinking of "upgrading" to some "new technology?"
Up until now you have had little choice but to pick a Windows CMMS if
you were moving
away from DOS and weren't using a mainframe. There are lots of Windows
CMMSs out there, but very little else. These packages range from very
simple to very complicated and from fairly cheap to extremely expensive.
We've chosen a different route with our new CMMS Oz. Oz. is not
Windows, not Windows NT, not Windows 95, NOT Windows 98 and so it
doesn't come with any inherent Windows problems. We've been doing CMMS for 15 years and we think we know what you want. . . a nice simple, easy-to-use, powerful, flexible system that enables you to get your job done.
You don't want to have to put up with a slow, buggy system that crashes
and shuts down your computer. One that locks you into getting only
canned reports or one that once the data is entered it's "never to be
seen again." You know it is in there, but don't know how to get to it.
You just want to do your job and it is our feeling that the computer and
the CMMS you use should facilitate that rather than be just another
huge headache.
Some of our customers have told us that their computer gurus tell them
they won't support anything that isn't a Windows system. In answer to
that we want to assure you that we will provide ALL of the support for
Oz AND OS/2 should you decide to move up to our latest technology. The
Oz. system can be purchased as a turnkey system to run standalone or as
"software only."
Contrary to popular belief, Windows is not the only game in town and
its our goal to prove that the best CMMS is not a Windows-based system.
Don't rule out a great system just because it isn't Windows.
Good News for the Masses
We've seen announcements that Aurora, (Warp Server) and
WorkSpace-on-Demand will have support for Windows NT, 95 and 98. This is
good news for all of you folks who would like to move to one of these
two more stable IBM operating systems, but are locked into windows
because of your heavy investment in Windows applications. This will open
up a whole new world. Won't it be great to run all of your Windows
software on the same server. (Can you do that with NT now? Who knows
when, if ever, you will be able to.)
OOPS! University
The 1998 class sessions have come to a close. If you have new users on
the system that need to be trained, you might consider hosting an
on-site training session for OOPS! users in your area. We also have
self-directed OOPS! Tutorial Programs. Give Wendy in Tech Support a call
to discuss what type of training would best suit your needs.
OOPS! Just a Reminder . . .
Technical Support Renewal notices are mailed the beginning of the month
in which the contract expires. All technical Support contracts expire at
the end of the month.
With the year 2000 issues, we are continuing to test the program for
compliance and making any necessary changes to the code. If you are not
current with your support, you are not on the active list, and we will
not know to send you the newest code. Therefore, we would like to
encourage you to make sure your support is current so that you maintain
"active list" status if you are still using OOPS!
It is our policy that if support has lapsed, in order to reinstate it,
users must pay for the years since the lapse along with a reinstallation
fee. If you are unsure of your status, please call Nancy Creedon in
Sales.
Special Introductory Offer
For a limited time only, any OOPS! user who purchases Oz. will receive
one FREE day of training. OOPS! users also get a substantial discount
on the system AND your OOPS! data will not be lost - There is already a
migration module in place. Why not call for your 60 free trial copy
