SCOOPS! Newsletter Feb, 1996

Although claims were made that Windows '95 would run DOS programs, we have found some problems running OOPS!® under '95, mainly with images. Until the compatibility issues are resolved for the operating system, we must advise our users that OOPS!® does not support Windows '95.

OOPS!® can operate under Windows 3.1 by creating a PIF file to launch the program.

OOPS!® has been tested by the National Software Testing Labs and is certified to run from OS/2.

Announcing . . .P.S.OOPS!®

By popular demand, Ounce of Prevention Software has developed a new product -- P.S. OOPS!® Expanded Purchasing System. A flexible add-on module, P.S. OOPS!® greatly increases the purchasing and receiving capabilities of OOPS!®

Designed for use in conjunction with OOPS!®, P.S. OOPS!® provides more versatility in the ordering procedures:

Order all, or only some, of the parts on a low stock report."

Update information on-the-fly, instead of having to flip from the low stock report to the inventory.

Receive items by PO number rather than part number - a great timesaver!

Assign separate charge codes for each item ordered for better accounting.

Order non-inventory items with ease - no need to enter the ordered part into the inventory file.

Customize purchase orders so you can use your own forms.

Run purchasing and receiving history reports for in-depth analysis of parts and procurement.

With P.S. OOPS!®, you can accomplish a number of related tasks on-screen by manipulating the low stock report list of parts. You will have the ability to change vendors or prices. You can also enter quantities, and P.S. OOPS!® will automatically add them to open invoices for those vendors.

Another important benefit of using P.S. OOPS!® is the ability to create a permanent audit trail, allowing users to query for outstanding parts or calculate lead time needed for ordering.

A FREE Trial of P.S. OOPS!® is included in the 4.0 upgrade. Give it a try!

Tech Tips

Report Printing:

Have you ever started printing a report and realized it wasn't the information you needed? Instead of printing out pages upon pages, display it to the screen. If you decide it is what you want, you can print it by pressing F1 at the display screen. You can print all of the pages or selected pages. It saves paper!

Global Changes:

Need to make a global change on information in your files? Don't type it in record by record. OOPS!® can make global changes on fields for you. Let OOPS!® technical support help you with your work.

Tech Tips

Network Users:

If you change where OOPS!® is located on the network, for example from the G: drive to the F: drive, remember to tell OOPS!® From the DOS prompt(within the OOPS directory), type OOPSNET. Select Add/Change network user or directories. Replace the home directory drive letter with the new drive. This allows OOPS!® to know where it has been moved.

Work Order Categories:

OOPS!® can keep track of the number of work orders that were emergency, corrective, PM, etc. Use the category field or an empty field in your schedule file to identify the work order type. In the schedule file category field, put in PM, along with how often it is done. For example: PM-1W for a PM done once a week, PM-2M for a PM done every two months. For one-time work orders, put in EM for emergency, CM for corrective, MD for machine down, etc. You can then run custom reports that count the number of records per group, or screen for just a selected category.
